(Yoho) camping, take a chance or go for safe?

We're traveling with a small RV this summer (July) through Canada and I would love to do some walks in Yoho. The campsites are non reservable though and it's impossible for us to queue up there at 10am (as I've read is usual) to get a spot since we come from Kootenay. The closest campsite as far as I can see is Lake Louise campground.. should we go for safe and book that or is there hope for (website-less) other campings or a spot at one of the few non-reservable national park campings?

After that we're traveling to Glacier National Park, Revelstoke and Manning park but also there finding nice quiet campsites online is difficult!! Tips are very very welcome, I've put in weeks and weeks trying to find something..

Thank you :)

We have stayed in Yoho twice and both times we got a spot and both times it was July. One thing to remember is that most campgrounds empty out during the week (empty out = lots more people leave) and Sunday is the day that most people leave one site and others flock in to them.

As a rule we never leave a site that we are in on Fri, Sat or Sun, We just stay put.

Come Monday mornings we head out to the next spot we are headed for. Sometimes we can't get into the sites we want so we just continue down the road.

This won't guarantee you a site in Yoho, but it may help you in finding a vacant one.

Soup.

Thank you for the tips! We're visiting Yoho on a friday and saturday so hopefully we'll find a spot in that area. Won't book the other camping and see what else is there!

As long as you get in before 4-5pm, you "should" find a spot. We always get in before 4... before the mad dash comes, and Yoho is better then Lake Louise for campground. Yoho area is usually a 1 night stop for many compared to other regions including Lake Louise.
