Looking for a romantic getaway 11/4-11/7

Hey

My hubby and I are looking for a romantic weekend getaway for our 1st anniversary. We want it to be inexpensive but nice. We've never been to the Poconos and want to check it out. Cove Haven, Paradise Stream etc seem perfect but way to expensive.

Can anyone help us out with some different ideas?

Thanks and God Bless

Ashley

Hello:

We have gone to Paradise Stream, Cove Haven and Pocono Palace about 30 times in the last 18 years, but not in the last 2 years as they did get very expensive. But, they do offer a 50 percent military discount, which we have used a few times since my husband was in the air force years ago. Judging by the reviews here on TA, Cove Haven seems to be the one that gets the best reviews now. We may try it again in December. BUT, you may want to check out Crescent Lodge, in Cresco. It is about 5 minutes from Paradise Stream and the casino. Their website has "last minute specials". They have some cute cabin-type rooms with fireplaces. It has always been very clean there and the location is close to everything. Also, breakfast is included. It's a continental breakfast during the week, but on the weekend, it includes pancakes, eggs, etc. The chef comes out and talks with everyone in the dining room - he's been there forever! Also, there is a place called Martinsville Streamside Cottages, which are individual cabins, close together, but still nice. They are a little more pricey. We've never stayed there, but would like to. Have a great time!

Well I called Coven Haven resorts and we really can't afford those prices even with the military rate. That will have to be a place we plan for way in advance lol. I think I may just give up on this idea lol.

Oh, no - don't give up! Did you look at the Crescent Lodge website? It's in the Poconos, too. It's such a beautiful, romantic area around there. I'm going to keep thinking about this to try to come up with something.....

helllo i know i am commenting late on this one, but i do have a great recommendation for you in the future coming. It is calles Martinville Streamside Cottages, in Canadensis Pennsylvania. It is quite beatiful. All of teh cottages are wonderful and very clean with great chambermaiding services. There is a stream that runs thorught he whoel place, and a nice small pond that you can fish in, or just relax by. I staye dtehre my self a couple of times and i loved it. The people there are family-liek and so welcoming. It's very comfortable and i enjoyed my stay there alot. Just a recommendation for the future or something. (:
