Even the Balinese drink bottled or boiled water, so do be careful about the water. Food is generally fine, just use common sense and make sure it is freshly cooked. If you buy any fruit, make sure you can peel it. Don't have soft serve ice cream, and leave salads unless in a good restaurant that will use bottled water to wash them. Enjoy yourself.

If u do start to feel a little off smash hardcore chilli dishes, make sure you ask for really hot as well. The small amount of heat will kill any bug, I found this to work anyways after two times where I did start to feel a bit crap.

They also sell these tablets called carbon or charcoal, just ask at a chemist and say for diarrhea. They come in a yellow and red box aparaently it's good for neutralising stomach issues, haven't used them yet myself as the chilli works a treat!

Pool water is treated and the pools are generally well maintained however you can get an ear infection from a swimming pool anywhere in the world.

Bottled drinking water is cheap and you should stock up in your room so you have plenty to drink and brush your teeth.

Salads are safe to eat, if in doubt ask if they wash the salad ingredients in bottled water. Restaurants are there to do business not have people end up sick and not returning.

Eat / drink where it is busy and a high turn over of food.

Stay clear of water spinach as it is grown in less than favourable conditions.

Stomach upsets usually occur due to a a change in diet and / or eating at places where the food has not been cooked / refrigerated properly... hence stick to popular places.

Hi, we have just returned from Bali a day ago. It was our first time to Bali. After reading hundreds of posts on TA we made the decision 5 days before we left Australia to take 20 mls of neat red cordial (its rather sweet) and 1 Fauling's probiotic. Then once we were in Bali we continued to do the same daily. We drank bottled water, cleaned our teeth with bottled water, kept our mouths closed in the shower, always asked if the ice in the drinks were made with bottled water and always used hand sanitiser after washing hands with tap water, handling money and before we ate any food. It becomes second nature to do all this pretty much straight away but be careful with your tooth brush it is so easy to forget to rinse the tooth brush with bottled water. We forgot a couple of times and immediately realised our mistake and then cleaned the tooth brush with boiling water. We enjoyed our stay and had no problems with any upset stomachs or Bali belly. Just be careful and you will be fine. Enjoy your holiday :)
