Free/cheaper parking

I am staying for a week in March at the Grand Marriott, South Lake Tahoe and have found out the parking is likely to be $180+! Does anyone have suggestions on others places to park?

That is a bummer if the Marriott changes for parking. You can park your car in either Harrahs or Harveys parking lot/parking structure for free. There is no guest requirement since people park there to gamble.

The Marriott is only a 7 minute walk to the casinos which are right across the border in Nevada. It is about a 1/2 mile walk.

Harrah's has a large outdoor parking area off of Lake Parkway. There are always a lot of cars parked in a section near the wall, but far away from the casino entrance. Why would that be? They are parking in that area as it is a very short walk to those properties that charge for parking.

You didn't hear it from me, but we park at Harrah's when we stay at the Embassy Suites or the Marriott Grand.

Whatever you do, do not over park in the parking lot across from the Grand where Raley's and all the other shops are. So many parking tickets are given for over staying there that the city of SLT must be able to pay all their bills with the income.

Drop off passengers and luggage and then go park the car.

Not saying anything specifically about the Tahoe Chalet Inn but it's not in the same category of properties as the Marriott. If I had a reservation at the Marriott Tahoe Chalet Inn wouldn't even be a second choice.

Free parking at lodging is the norm at Lake Tahoe. Other than the two places mentioned above, I am not aware of any other places that charge for parking. ?? Even the upscale Hyatt Regency offers free self parking.
