SUV needed in summer?

We are traveling to the Jackson area for a week in July. Do we need to rent an SUV for our trips into the Grand Teton and possibly YNP? Or are we okay with a regular vehicle?

Thanks!

I've driven a car through both Tetons and Yellowstone with no problem. An SUV might get you better visibility.

Unless SUV rental contract allows use off paved roads (most rentals do not) then there is no real point to getting one. Except for perhaps cargo space. There are some really nice dirt roads though and SUV with higher clearance might be good for that if allowed off paved. Places like the Grantie Creek road, south of Hoback Jct. that goes up to the hot springs pool. Very pretty up there.

Suv not needed. I submit the best vehicle to tour Grand Teton and Yellowstone is actually a Convertible. (as long as you can get your stuff in the trunk.
