If we stayed in Jackson Hole, is Yellowstone too far away?

IMO and the opinion of many others on this forum-Yes.

You can stay in Jackson Hole and easily see the Grand Tetons. We did that this past September and then spent time in the park in Yellowstone to tour that park. It will save a lot of driving to stay in the park. Book only thru Xanterra and keep checking if booked because cancellations occur all the time. If want out of park lodging then check out West Yellowstone or Gardiner, MT.

We've been to the parks several times in the past few years and have always split time between Jackson Hole/Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. We have stayed in the park which is best imo and in West Yellowstone and Gardiner (we prefer West Yellowstone).
