Landslide update please

Does anyone know what's going on with the landslide? Our trip is in 5 weeks and we're wondering if we need to cancel. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those who live in the area. Please stay safe.

It is effecting a few businesses along with the recently constructed Walgreens. They will apparently reroute a water main serving a bout one third of the town of Jackson on Wednesday. I don't understand why there would be any reason to cancel a vacation here.

Thanks for your thoughts. There are about 60 people who have been displaced, but it is a very slow-moving slide, and there have been NO injuries. Many national news outlets have way overblown the event with headlines like "Landslide Swallows Mountain Town", etc. It is nothing like that. Over the years developers have quarried and removed the side of a hill to the point that it finally began to give way. It's a great shame for those who live on that hill, because at least one house is lost, and the dozen or so others cannot be accessed because the road is damaged. But this slide would in NO WAY affect anybody's visit to the area.
