Taxi from Airport to City, about $70

For accommodation, your most cost effective option will be to go for one of the many self contained apartment style places, many of which have 2 bedroom apartments that would be great for the 4 of you.

A few to consider are:

QUEST (several locations around Auckland)

OAKS (I stay)

These are all on WOTIF, or you might even get a better deal booking directly.

Most of these will have 2 bedroom apartments for approx $200

The Quadrant is a 5 minute walk, slightly up hill out of the CBD

Elliot Hotel is 50m off Queen Street, just down from Aotea Square

Quest has several very central locations

Oaks is in Fort St, about 2 minutes walk from the bottom end of Queen St, close to ferries, britomart, Viaduct etc

All very good 4* apartment accommodation

Also check out....

They have limited rooms at cheap cheap prices

They have rooms up for auction by a few hotel chains.

Great website for motels / apartments etc. Not so good for hotels but has a section called Hot Deals with some great rates.

These should sort you out quite nicely.
