Short cruises from Auckland in September

We plan to be in Auckland in September for the World Cup, and we are looking for things to do the week between games from the 9th to the 15th. Any suggestions?

Ferry day trips go to Waiheke Island (wineries & restaurants) or Rangitoto Island (hiking) or even a day trip to Tiritiri Matangi for bird watching:

Try to get out to the West Coast. If you are driving, you can see a little of our native bush(even stop at Arataki Visitors Center and do a "mini- walk".Drive through to Piha , blow away any cobwebs with a walk along the beach. There are organised tours too.

Or you could do a wine trail, plenty to choose from close to Auckland if you have a spare day.Up towards Warkworth there are some beautiful wineries and lovely scenery too.Waiheke, as mentioned above, has some fab wineries to visit.

For a little outing close to town, nothing beats a walk around the Waterfront Drive and coffee in St Helier's Bay.Plenty of buses if you want a ride back to the city.Alternatively, get on a ferry to Devonport- picturesque little suburb just across the water from the central city- lovely for a wander and lunch on a nice day.

Bring your raincoat!
