M.V. Lady Rose has retired

Greetings---

I just read that the M.V. Lady Rose has retired after 70 years of service---a heritage vessel plodding the waters from Port Alberni on Vancouver Island out to Barkley Sound on the west coast. This was my father's absolutely favorite salmon fishing spots with my now-deceased brother. I regret I waited too long to ride on this venerable lady.

Do not despair-a new vessel the M.V. Frances Barkley is in service. I just wanted to say goodbye to the Grand Lady.

Hi OE,

Sorry, but the Lady Rose retired in 2009, which left the FB to carry on alone. They worked together for a while.

Very scenic part of VI.

The Frances Barkley has been working this route since March 1990.

The Lady Rose is now owned by Jamie's Whaling Station in Tofino and is set to become a restaurant. So you'll still be able to see the ship, just not go out in Barkley Sound on it!

And the Lady Rose is still in existence...soon to be a floating restaurant in Tofino and is now owned by Jaimie Bray of Jaimie's Whaling Station.
