Need motorcyce route from Victoria to Parksville

I would like some alternate routes to get to Parksville if possible from Victoria on a motorclce trip. It's a cruiser so no off road stuff lol. I see there's a route on the south side of the island but it adds too much time ...I want to stay off the busiest routes though. Is there a scenic nice ride that's under say 3 hours to get there without going the busy freeway?

Also once in Parksville we have a full day to explore on the motorbike. Should we continue towards Cambell river or towards the south. We would like to do some scenic ride that day and stop for lunch somewhere and then head back to Parksville. Any suggestion? Thank you in advance.

Assume the route too long was the Pacific Marine Circle Route. Worth it for your tour. The "old' Island Highway runs down the coast from about Courtenay to south of Cowichan Bay. It breaks up here and there so you come back to the main highway for a stretch and return. Check the map for places like Royston, Chemainus, Maple Bay, Cowichan Bay, Genoa Bay etc. Courtenay is north for that second day trip or Port Alberni's Spoat Lake past Coombs is west of Parksville. You need to get a map out, but you'll find lots of traffic reduced cruising. Lunch stops everywhere.

A couple of suggestions for part of the route:

1. Look at the Mill Bay ferry rather than the Malahat.

2. You COULD look at going via Saltspring Island. Up the Saanich Peninsula to Swartz Bay, onto the Fulford Harbour ferry, tour Saltspring, ending up at the north end for the Vesuvius-Crofton crossing. Not sure what the timing would be for this though. You'd have to look at the ferry schedules and see if its compatible with your overall timing.

Hmm - you could also look at these route descriptions for Vancouver Island. They are intended for cyclists and are extremely detailed, so it would take some work on your part to sort through them, but they would take you onto lesser known roads with less traffic.

hi

it also depends on where you are starting from in Victoria and how much time you want to take to get there. This is a route using all secondary routes along the way starting near the parliament buildings. +you have to check the times for the ferry to Mill Bay. http://tinyurl.com/nb5bqfh just move the blue line around to change sections of the route.
