Boldt Castle - ESTA

We are planning on taking the 1,000 island cruise from Gananoque which includes a 2 hour stopover at Boldt castle.

As UK citizens we are aware that we require our passports but are we required to apply for ESTA ?

Hi EMMS;

The American ESTA program is NOT used for land crossings from Canada to the US.

Hi EMMS,

Welcome to the GANANOQUE (1000 Islands Canada) TRAVEL FORUM

As RESCUE TEAM has mentioned, no need to apply for an ESTA... assuming that you'll be flying into Canada as Citizens of the UK all you will need are your Passports (IF you fly into the USA from overseas, then YES you'll need an ESTA)

For Land Entry into the USA, you will upon entry, as Citizens of the UK... you normanlly need to apply for an I-94W... fill out a form, be photographed and fingerprinted and pay a fee for processing (believe it still is aprox $ 6 US).

Haven't been across to Boldt Island this summer (lol, although I've been a ton of other great places in the 1000 Islands !!)... but this may or may not be needed for entry to this site (as it is an island and therefore water-locked)... but you need to be aware that it may indeed be required documentation for disembarkation at Boldt Island which is in the USA.

The I-94W is valid for 90 days... and you can hold on to it if you think you'll be visiting the USA more than once on this vacation... in any case you surrender it to a Customs Official (be that US or Canada) when you leave the USA for the last time... as they will then record the fact that you have left the country (thereby resetting your Visa clock back to 0)

Hope this is helpful,

Cheers!
