6 nights in Sooke in July

We are going to be in Vancouver Island in July and will be staying in a vacation rental house on the beach in Sooke for 6 nights. Prior to our arrival we will have had one night in Crofton, two in Port Alberni (taking the freighter boat ride through the Broken Islands) and three nights in Tofino. After leaving Sooke, we will be in Olympic National Park for a few days before heading back to Michigan. Our group of 5 ranges in age from 17 to 78. Our 78 year olds are fairly fit and healthy, love the outdoors and scenery, but not up to strenuous walks.

I have found a lot of great information on this site, but am wondering if you have any specific suggestions for us to do and see while we’re in your beautiful part of the world?

Will you have a car? Check Pacific Marine Circle Route. Tons to see/ do near your Sooke spot.

The Sooke Potholes, Whiffen Spit, and Botanical Beach. Check the tides before heading out to Botanical Beach though. It is wonderful with a low tide and lots of fun to check out the tide pools, for ALL ages!

On the way to or from Tofino, check out

Coombs country Market http://www.oldcountrymarket.com/

Little Qualicum Falls …gov.bc.ca/bcparks/…

Cathedral Grove http://www.cathedralgrove.eu/

And on your way to Tofino, stop at Port Alberni and gas up again, regardless of how much gas is in your tank. And fill your stomach at Bare Bones with fish and chips! YUM! It's in a church, so easy to miss!

Have a great time!

Oh, if time, a stop in Chemainus, just north of Duncan, is worth a visit too. You will be very close to it while in Crofton.
