Christmas Dinner - Mont Tremblant

I'm looking for recommendations on where to go for a Christmas meal in Mont Tremblant! Fantastic food and a great atmosphere is a must (as there is only two of us!!). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I would like to know if you are talking about Christmas night or Christmas Eve?

French Canadian tradition is that you have a "réveillon" (middle of the night supper) after midnight mass. Nowadays most masses are at 9 or 10 pm, not so many at midnight anymore but the réveillon is not cancelled but eaten earlier, still after the mass, the only time of the year when churches will be full.. So on the Eve most people will have only a light dinner and a réveillon later on in the evening. Then expect most restaurants to close early. Might be different in Mont-Tremblant due to the amount of foreigners on the site so restaurants at the Village might be open later but I won't trust the ones in Saint-Jovite on that matter.

Christmas is usually a busy and beautiful time at Tremblant and most restaurants will be open. You will want to call first to be sure about operating hours and whether they have special Christmas menus, but here are a few, very nice places to check out. You didn't mention budget, so I didn't think about it either!

In the pedestrian resort village:

(1) Restaurant Q in the Hotel Quintessence (technically not in the village but across the street from the middle of the village, Hotel Quintessence is a lovely, boutique hotel on Lac Tremblant).

(2) The Fairmont Hotel

In the old village of Mont Tremblant, (but actually only a short distance from the resort village, not far from the marina on Lac Tremblant): Petite Cachee. This is a charming, upscale log cabin atmosphere. Some tables have a waterfall view.

In St-Jovite: two excellent restaurants are Cheval de Jade and Resto-Seb Artisinal. All of the restaurants mentioned have websites. Hope this helps.

Probably a lot of places in the Village but I haven't any suggestions at the moment. Also there would be a possible Christmas brunch buffet at the Fairmont so you can get to the last seating (1h30-2h?) and there will be enough food to fill you until the next morning.

As per really in the evening you could also try L'Escalope in Saint-Jovite, they don't have a website so give them a shout. This restaurant is doing a brisk business with a very local fan base, not so many tourists venture there.

As Rick has reminded us in the past, spelling precision is important, so I have double-checked and the proper name of Seb is "Seb L'artisan Culinaire" (www.resto-seb.com)

I forgot about it but the restaurant at the Casino would do the trick. It is fairly new so it still goes under the radars. Usually the provincial casinos have very good restaurants so this one should be no exception but since it has to fit the bill for everybody (being the sole food option) I can't say anything about the general quality for all types of food. Also they might have a Christmas brunch but I doubt it so at night it will be all fresh and nice and the view outside (well daytime, don't know how much is lighted at night) is magnificient. Also you can get there from the village using their infamous gondola. If it is infamous it is certainly not the Casino's fault but Intrawest's one since it owns and operate it and use any flimsy excuses to shut it down. Casino has also bus shuttles to the Village and you just have to call to get there if you are staying in the resort. Otherwise just drive there it is much less cumbersome.
