Black fly situation

What is the black fly situation this year?

Is it worse than usual?

I hear Mt Tremblant sprays.

And, yes, Mt-Tremblant does spray (presume they did so again this year). My son and I did a golfing week at this time of year in 2011. Courses in the resort and in nearby Gray Rocks were fine. We drove south to the Royal Laurentian in St-Faustin near St-Agathe and the black flies there were so thick that we stopped playing and drove home, full of bites.

Even with spraying there are there, they are just not as bad as they would be if they didn't spray.

It really depends where you are in Tremblant.

I was told that it is worse this year. Concerned as my wife is allergic. Plan on staying 3 nights June 23-26 in the village. Heard that village sprays well. Any comment? Staying at the Quintessence.

Quintessense is lovely, nice spot on the lake so you should get the breeze and that always helps.

I would not say they are any worse this year than others, and I am out on the trails a lot.

I take an antihistimine daily and use Watkins bug repellent. Those help. Have your wife avoid wearing perfumes and dark colours, those two things will reduce how appealing she is as well.

I was just there earlier this week. In the pedestrian village wasn't too bad, however when I was sitting outside my condo (Pied de la Montagne) in the evening they were bad. Also, when was at the top of the mountain they were quite bad, worse than I remember them being the past few years.
