Things to do in Mont Tremblant

Hi. My wife and I are considering visiting Mont Tremblant late August. Someone had recommended it but not sure what it has to offer. We are looking for a place to relax by a pool, hike, and enjoy some nice restaurants. We were thinking of staying 4 nights since we are coming from Boston. Is there enough to do for 4 nights? What do you recommend? Places to stay? Things to do? Thanks, W

There definitely is enough to do for four nights. In fact, anything possible to do out of doors is easily done in the area. This includes everything from the adventurous to the sedate. Hiking, biking, relaxing by the pool or beach, dining, drinking, listening to the free live music, golf, tennis, sailing, water-skiing, wake boarding, horseback riding, canoeing, white water rafting, etc. are the more common activities. Then, there are the more adventurous ones. Check out the resort's website: www.tremblant.ca for activities (take a look at the video for ZipTrek Ecotours)

Do any of these (you already mentioned relaxing by the pool) interest you? As for places to stay, what is your nightly preferred budget? The best, but most expensive place to stay, is Hotel Quintessence. There are a number of other, less expensive/less luxurious places to stay as well.

As for dining, there are a few good restaurants in the resort village and a larger number of good ones a short drive away. There also are dozens of "just OK" restaurants everywhere. Cuisine and budget preferences would be helpful for us to narrow down some specific recommendations.

Hi . Thanks for the reply. Actually, we booked the Quintessence. Looks great. Want to hike, canoe and see wildlife. Just in case, also considering the Fairmont in Charlesvoix. Also looks like a great resort with outstanding views of the St. Lawrence. Just not sure there is enough to do there. What is your opinion on that? Thanks again, W

You should be quite happy at Quintessence. Remember that the Tremblant experience is not limited to the resort village, though wildlife (especially deer) can be seen even there. Don't forget the 583 square mile Mont Tremblant National Park (www.sepaq.com/pq/mot/index.dot?language_id=1)offers all kinds of nature and activities. The closest Park entrance to Quintessence is as 10-12 minute drive away. The Park has 40 mammal species, including wolf and bear.

As for wildlife on the resort property, I was at Tremblant about two weeks ago and saw deer several times around the Quintessence, near the chapel and along the road by the parking lots near the entrance to the village. Deer, groundhogs and of course squjirrels and chipmunks are a very common sight in the resort section called Domaine de la Foret, on the golf courses and the bike trails throughout the resort. I have seen fox on the golf courses as well. These observations apply also to the entire Mont Tremblant region, not to the resort alone.

Perhaps someone else might be able to offer you a comparison of Mont Tremblant and the Fairmont in Charlevoix, as I have no been to Charlevoix.

We recently spent three nights there. Hiked to the top of mont trembant, did the tree top trekking and the luge. There was a fair bit of shopping. We enjoyed dinning outside and we watched the free concerts two nights. There was a unicycle competition on when we were there but we didnt find out about it til it was too late. That would of been fun to watch. There is also zip trek which is quite pricy compared to the parcourse treetop trekking. And we had donevitin whistler. Have fun.

If you don't mind a good drive then you could go to Montebello one day. If you are lookind for wildlife you could visit Parc Omega, it is of the safari zoo kind but with a lot of ground and al kind of Canadian wildlife plus non native aboudant boars. Bring a lot of carrots and you will have a blast.

Nearby there is also the iconic Fairmont Chçateau Montebello that is worth a look and if you visit on sundays the brunch there wi far better than at the one in Mont -Tremblant.
