Lake O'Hara Question

If I am staying in Canmore, is there enough time to visit Emerald Lake and do one of the smaller trails at Lake O'Hara? Also, does the restaurant cater to day users? Thanks in advance!

What time are you planning to take the bus to/from Lake O'Hara? It takes about an hour to drive to the parking lot from Canmore. It's about 20 minutes farther to Emerald Lake.

Don't rush your time there; it's a special place, and you probably won't want to leave anyway. I don't think the restaurant at the lodge serves non-guests, so you should pack a lunch.

In the long days of summer, you would have time to stop by Emerald Lake after visiting Lake O'Hara.

Yes, you can do that -- but the amount of time you will invest in getting to O'Hara will suggest that you spend most of the day there. Most folks take the 430 bus out, so you will be back at your car by 5 PM -- more than enough time to scoot over the Emerald, and Natural Bridge.

From Canmore, you will be leaving early to get to the bus on time -- assuming you take the early bus in.

The Lodge is NOT open to day users -- except they sometimes allow a few to tea. I don't recommend it, having stayed at the Lodge. Better to bring your own lunch and then stop in Field on your way to Emerald Lake for a snack.
