Any town will have a supermarket with wine and cheese...

Where are you "heading back" to?

Calais? Port or Eurotunnel...

I find the huge Carrefour at the Cite Europe shopping centre to be quite good for wine, cheese , etc. It' s pretty much part of the Eurotunnel complex so you can't miss it.

It less direct but if you want a town there is a Carrefour in the Eurolille shopping centre by Lille Europe station and a more modest, but comprehensive, supermarket on the main square in Calais.

As I mention quite a bit, I like Carrefour at Cite Europe, not far from the Eurotunnel terminal. I wlil be there on the 7th December myself.

It's not an area which is known for cheese or wine production so the Hypermarkets or numerous supermarkets are the easy choice for a wide selection of both, plus many other products.

If you want a wide range of professionally selected wines which you can try before you buy, and have personal service for your tasting, preferably phone ahead (or chance it, just turn up) to Bursot. They are about 15mins south of the main A16 autoroute into Calais, just off the main square in Ardres.

There's not a lot of choice directly on your route. As others have said, you'd do just as well to go to the hypermarkets in Calais. There's a good selection of cheese & other "local" produce in both Carrefour at the Cite Europe or Auchan nearby. You could also get a meal/snack or drinks at both.
