Lake Garda query

I am thinking of heading to Sirmione after Verona for a couple of days in September and would like to book a nice hotel. A few things though I am travelling with my elderly mother so there would have to be a lift. It doesnt have to be mad expensive just clear, friendly and close to the city. Any 3* hotel recommendations appreciated. Also if anyone knows the quickest way to get here from Verona or has a website to the local bus/train for Sirmione. We would like to see some of Lake Garda. How expensive are the boats and how long would you need on them we are only planning on visiting the south part as we will have to fly out of Verona.

The easiest and cheapest public transport option is to just jump on the LN026 bus service from Verona to Sirmione

In Sirmione the Hotel Catullo is a popular choice

but relatively speaking it is not IMO cheap being €95 per person for half board

It is 400m walk from the bus stop

The 4* Hotel Eden (don't know if it has a lift) has offers at roughly the same price as the Catullo but nothing before 13th September

Your biggest problem is when in September EXACTLY. Up to the 15th September is often still classed as high season by many hotels and with high season prices goes a minimum number of nights - could be 4 or 5 nights minimum.

Also depending on choice of Hotel you could find yourself a long way for the bus stop meaning you will need a taxi throught the old town (authorised vehicles only). Sirmione taxis should have a permit.

If however you choose for example to take the train (15mins) to Desenzano then a local taxi from Desenzano station I can't say if they have a permit or not

The best thing to do is to look through the Sirmione hotel reviews to get some ideas then check with the hotels directly. Some hotels do ask for a minimum 4 nights, mostly in July/August, but many will accept bookings for less.
