We are a couple with a toddler planning a trip to Lake Garda in July. So far we have only decided on one thing: Flying in and out from Malpensa and staying a week in between. Everything else is pretty much flexible.
We are planning to stay most of the time in one place by the lake. We have reservation for Bardolino for only 6 nights, and therefore are looking a place to stay for the first night.
Our plain arrives at 6.30 pm. and by the time we have our luggage and rental car sorted out it will be around 8 pm. It would be easy to stay near the airport, since it is only one night. However, we would like to make the most of our time and stay somewhere we can explore the following day and drive to Garda in the afternoon.
Not very keen on Milan: It seems too much of a stress for one night with car and a toddler. Is driving to Lake Maggiore (Arona/Stresa) or Como (Como city, Bellagio or Menaggio) a stupid idea given we will be there for less than a day? Would we be better off staying in Bergamo, for example? Or should we drive all the way to Garda, and stay perhaps in Sirmione one night. Wew are planning to do a day trip to Verona from Bardolino, so staying there would not be a necessity in that sense.
Thanks for your ideas in advance.
