Maine or Cape Cod? Help Us Please!

Hey everyone, Real quick. Me and my girlfriend are 23 and looking to celebrate our 6th anniversary in either Maine or Cape Cod in the middle of August.

We are looking for. .. .

- Good food, Lobster & Seafood. Prices cheaper?

- Beaches, fun activities throughout the day

- A little nightlife

- Whale watching/ sight seeing

- Whats Natucket all about?

Any recommendations?

Thanks!!!

Both are excellent choices.

What is Nantucket all about 50% beautiful island 50% money. We can quibble about the percentages.

The Cape or the islands every time. Not a big fan of Maine.

Cape Cod - beautiful beaches, a terrific variety, Nantucket Sound is different from the Cape Cod bay side and the Atlantic beaches and then there are the calm inland ponds for fresh water swimming too.

ME - rocky cosst.

You mention "prices cheaper???" Nantucket is your most expensive option. Is that what you want.

Lastly, you are posting on the Cape Cod board so that is going to color responses but friends of mine just spent a week at a timeshare in ME and spent their 'beach time' at the resort's pool. You can decide if that's what you are looking for.

Have fun whatever you do.

Maine every time not a big fan of the Cape or the Islands. Just kidding, the Cape or Maine are both great choices. My favorite place is Ogunquit, ME but not much late night activities here. Falmouth, Hyannis or Provincetown might be good choices for the Cape.

Nantucket is a nice place to celebrate your anniversary. To confuse you some more you can also add Newport, RI to your list.

Enjoy!

Cape Cod has more beaches accessible to the public than Maine.

As for 'cheap lobster' ... we get "takeout" all cooked at a seafood market called Cape Tip Seafood and eat it elsewhere.

Wow. This is a very subjective question!

My family and I used to live year-round in Chatham but recently relocated to an island in Maine as we felt Cape Cod was too crowded in the summer, and that the Cape had lost part of its charm. My husband's family goes back to the founding of Chatham, so this was not an easy choice. We are more than pleased with our move however!

Chatham is an ideal place to visit on the Cape, as is Orleans, with all the things you list above. It is however, very crowded. If you don't mind the crowds, and I note you have "youth" on your side, I would suggest Provincetown would be an ideal choice to meet your needs. Aside from Hyannis, PTown has the only real quality nighlife to speak of of anywhere on the Cape. The best affordable deal in Provincetown can be found here: (http://www.capeinn.com/). Centrally located, there are great shuttles to get you out to the beach from the inn, and you can stroll to Commercial St's restaurant and bar scene with ease. You will not spend much time in your room, there is so much to do!

It's all relative. If you come to Maine, I would recommend a visit to Rockland, Camden, Belfast, and points north, including some Penobscot Bay island hopping for some true relaxation, perhaps via schooner. Depending on how much time you have, Provincetown may fit the bill (esp on whale watching!)

Hope that helps!

Enjoy!

This Is a great deal that I had shared with friends planning to visit from Maine with their family in August.

Unfortunately there are black out dates in the middle of August:

<< Not Available August 16-22 >>

(are these your dates, tbmaciii?)

However, if your schedule is at all flexible, this could work for you.

Enjoy!
