Two nights in Chatham -- best sights/activities?

We are coming from Martha's Vineyard in mid-September (via car ferry) and will stay two nights at the Chatham Bars Inn, then we're on to Boston where we will return the rental car and stay for three nights, What are the best sights/activities on Cape Cod in this limited time frame? We are age 60+ but very active, and we enjoy sightseeing, history, and the beaches. Thank you!

For what it costs wouldn't leave cbi. If you like beaches then national seashore and visit highland light. Meander down 6a and stop at galleries. Ride bikes at race point in Provincetown. Glass blowing in sandwich. Hard to think of things you may not have already done on mv. Certainly the concierge can point you in the right direction.

Janet, if you go to Provincetown you can take a whale watch from there.

You'll hear that some highlights are visiting Lighthouse Beach and even going up into the LIghthouse one day (I think Wed) per week. Visit the Chatham Fish Pier when the fishermen bring in their catch and you'll see 6 to 12 seals swimming there waiting for a fish handout. Of course you will want to poke around in the stores on Main St. Be sure to enjoy Yankee Ingenuity on the west side of the street. Check with the Chatham visitor's center and/or the hotel. Enjoy CBI.

By the way, if that 60+ age = 62 then you can buy a lifetime pass to the National Seashore and every National pass in the country for just $10.

If you make your way to Provincetown, consider Art's Dune Tour.

Do not skip stopping somewhere along the National Seashore. It is spectacular. I like the spot at Marconi Station -- you get a little history with your amazing views (Marconi, inventor of the telegraph).

The Audubon sanctuary in Wellfleet is very beautiful. I think Provincetown is well worth it. It has so many things to offer -- if you are interested in more than one of them, allow at LEAST a full half day. I like to go there from Chatham in the early afternoon, look around, then stay for dinner.

Chatham in September sounds great!
