Looking for great beaches AND amusement/water slide park

Is there such a town in or close to the Cape that offers great beaches with big waves but also great amusement parks/things to do for teen age boys? Like a water slide park, or an amusement ride type park? Go cart race cars? We love the beach, but also don't go every day. Doesn't have to be the Cape if someone knows of an area like that (we just love the Cape so much from previous vacations). Thanks!!

Perhaps. But sometimes a waterpark is just a waterpark and not the end of the world as we know it. It's a slide with some water. But there isn't one anywhere on the Cape so we can just move on down to the Jersey Shore or up to the Maine coast if we want one, two other beautiful, seasonal seaside east coast destinations that do a pretty good job of boosting their summer economy with some slides and a little water.

There are many things that the cape could do to try to boost tourism without ruining the fabric of its unique charm....a Water Slide amusement park is not one of them, IMHO. Ruining precious land with more parking lots, and 2-month-a year amusements will do nothing for the year-round population but give us more traffic and honky-tonk. What we really need are year-round sustainable jobs in clean, non-polluting, non-tourist oriented businesses.

Well all is not lost. It pleases me to see all the little ones on Skaket Beach happily playing for hours with their buckets and spades. Building castles, filling moats with water, aided and abetted by parents who also seem happy to engage in such a peaceful pastime. Endless trips to get more water out of the sea, they never seem to get tired of the activity.

Older ones wading through the grasses looking for tiny fish and crabs. Adults, comfortable in their chairs with the latest novel. One year, I remember, everyone on the beach was reading The Thornbirds.

No need of waterparks there.

It's a bit of a pipe dream but a developer is trying to find investors and the zoning changes for a year round indoor water park in Yarmouth at the site of the Bass River Sports World....

Great article, milemarker0, and the perfect spot for such a business. There are similar year round, indoor water parks in New Hampshire and Massachusetts that are really wonderful and don't rip apart any fabric. They're just fun places to be and great places to bring children.

I agree with yellowbird. The Cape needs more tourist attractions like it needs a hole in the head.
