Opening a UK bank account - non UK resident.

My daughter is going to look for work in the UK. If she gets a job, she will need to open a bank account.

Evidently, there are on-line services to assist you to open a UK bank account prior to leaving in our case Australia.

Given the potential risk in trusting these on-line services, has anyone actually used one of these services to open a UK bank account in advance of a working holiday in the UK.

TIA

Have a look at a company called 1st Contact. They're a UK based company who specialise in helping people from South Africa and Australia coming to the UK. I can vouch for them being a legit and trustworthy.

Their Australian site is:

www.1stcontact.com.au

Good luck to your daughter.

Very difficult for someone on a working holiday visa to open an account once in the UK, so a company like the above is the best option.

HOWEVER once she's been in the UK a few months she should be able to move the account to somewhere better

Try opening an account with HSBC in Australia they are an International bank and should be able to transfer the account to the UK once your Daughter has a UK address.
