Recent experience of taking hire car to Ireland?

If there is anyone who has had a fairly recent experience of hiring a rental car in England and then taking it across on a ferry to Ireland I would be very grateful to hear which firm you hired from, for how long, what all the'extra' charges were, etc.

Many thanks

This will more than Likely be a none starter. You could try the main players like Hertz, Avis or Enterprise(who I have used for Van hire from here in Ireland to UK at 150 Euro surcharge). It would probably be easier to cross as a foot passenger on say Rail and sail or Fly across then Hire in Ireland.
