I have noticed many similar requests on TA but sorry, felt compelled to send anyway...we are contemplating leaving sunny Australia in Dec/Jan to come to England...we know it is Winter but we are not afraid!! Just unsure about how crazy it might be? We plan to start in London over New Years and then travel (train) to Winchester, pick up a hire car and begin a driving trip West to ward and into Wales, up to Chester and further on to the Lakes District before heading back to leave the car in Manchester and on to London and home. In all we are planning to be away for 3 weeks. Is this total madness? Due to our holidays (I am a teacher) this is the longest holiday break we get. I would love to hear from any other Aussies who have done something similar at this time of the year and of course would love any other expert comments from the locals. All comments welcome.
