Taunton to Blue Anchor

In July 2013 I will be arriving at the Taunton Rail Station and need to get to Blue Anchor. I will not have a car. What is the best way to get to Blue Anchor?

Hello! Three options.

Get bus 28 from Taunton station to Bishops Lydeard station, Then take the West Somerset Railway to Blue Anchor.

Take the 28 to Watchet and then Webberbus 106 to Blue Anchor

Take the 28 to Minehead and then Webberbus 106 or a taxi to BA

Don't be tempted to get the 28 to Carhampton (the closest stop to Blue Anchor) and walking. It is about a mile and a very dangerous road for pedestrians, narrow and bendy with no pavement.

Assuming you're not arriving on aSunday, the 28 runs half hourly but the WSR and 106 are much less frequent, so your choice may depend on your time of arrival. If you let us have your time of arrival at Taunton station we can give further info

Some additional information:

- the West Somerset Railway runs daily in July;

- the last train from Watchet is 17.00hrs;

- the 106 bus does not run on Sundays;

- if cost is paramount, take the No. 28 bus from Taunton Station to Watchet and then either the 106 bus (Mondays to Saturdays) or West Somerset Railway (Any day) to Blue Anchor.

- West Somerset Railway fares will be more expensive on 6th, 7th, 13th and 14th July (due to special events)
