That's one of those 'If I was going there, I wouldn't start from here' questions.

If you wish to travel by National Express coaches you will need to travel via London (Victoria).

Rail-wise you can travel Dover Priory to London Waterloo East, then train from London Waterloo to Southampton Central. There is an alternative route avoiding London, but you have to change at Ashford International and Brighton and it is sloooooow.

www.nationalrail.co.uk for times and fares.

Failing that, it's find a private transfer.

You need to take the Nat Express coach to London Victoria then another coach from London Victoria to Southampton.

Oops, Wirewiper was quicker on the draw.

The slow train (the "not via London") route is £62 off peak. The via London route is £65 offpeak or £72 peak.

If you take the train, I'd go via London. The extra time and hassle doesn't seem worth a mere £3 saving.

If there is three or more, and you are travelling after the morning peak, you can reduce the cost with "Groupsave"
