Looking for a place at December that I can walk and Cycle

The only time I can get vacation is at the beginning of December. I am flying to London but I want to go out to the country. I will not have a car. and Suggestion where I can go. I will travel by my self. Looking for nature. Get away for few days. Thanks in advance

Cycling in the Snow is good fun...

(Well, we had quite a lot of snow last year....)

Of course I reckon any holiday in the UK is great, at any time of year...

BUT

If cycling is going to be a strong component of the trip, maybe you should look "downunder" for somewhere with weather that will be warmer???

Bad choice of season for UK cycling.

If you have already booked your flight I would suggest staying mostly in London.

No need to stay in London for the whole trip

And just because the weather was cold last December then why assume it will be cold this December.

It could well be mild and sunny (ish).

If you stay on the west coast the temperatures can be milder

Why not head to North Wales?

Good rail links to Llandudno Junction or Holyhead on Anglesey from London

Book your ticket twelve weeks in advance for the cheapest deal

www.nationalrail.co.uk.

Plenty of accomodation all along the coast.

Take a look at Conwy, Llandudno, Caernarfon, Beaumaris.

There is a cycle path along part if the coast linking Rhyll and Llandudno and Penmaenmawr is fairly level as are most of the roads running along the coast.

Anglesey is a beautiful place, some great walks along headlands at Treardur Bay for example

This might help

In general the wind tends to blow from the South West so it would be best to start in the West and head East?

It will only get light about 0830 in December and be dark just after 1600

cyclingnorthwales.co.uk/pages/nwles_co_cyw.h…

You will be able to cycle past old castles, small villages and really be in the countryside

Even IF it snows it doesn't usually last too long along the coast, so cycling might be difficult but walking will be a great experience.

I can recommend North Wales in December

Plenty of cycle hire too if you don't want to bring your own bike

Whilst I wouldn't recommend Snowdonia for cycling or mountain walking in December, especially if you haven't got full weather gear

You can easily get a bus into Snowdonia to say Llanberis and experience the mountain scenery in winter which is totally different to Tel Aviv

Why not head to North Wales?

========

Because realistically it will take the best part of a day to get there, and another day to get back, and the OP only has a few days? So for example if he had 4 days and went to Wales , he'd only have 2 days of actual walking available. Not a very good payback on his time. I'd thought, from the OPs post, he was looking for something perhaps a couple of hours travel away.

BTW OP, do you realise its dark around 330pm at this time of year? So your hours of walking are seriously limited.

I would have advised firstly going somewhere else other than the UK, and secondly, if thats not possible, staying within a couple of hours of London, for example there are walks you can do along the banks of various rivers such as the Thames, in the countryside, 1-2 hours outside London.

Euston to Llandudno Junction is three and a half hours

Hardly ' all day"

And the OP wants to come to the UK and doesn't want to stay in London

I am trying to give the OP advice based on what he wants to do

Not on what I think he " should" do

He lives in a big city

And he knows it doesn't get light til 0830 and gets dark around 1600 already

By the time the OP has packed bags, checked out, got to Euston, got train to north Wales, found new accommodation, checked in and hired bike it will be dark or nearly so. This for me is to much traveling for such a short trip. Especially when there are plenty of places you can cycle in the countryside within an hour of London.

I have only made some suggestions, I think good ones for the OP to research for themselves.

Ok if he is not to go to North Wales

Then where?

The more info the better choices that the OP can make

So far we have had

Go somewhere other than the UK when the OP. is already coming to London

And staying in London

Which isn't what the OP is wanting from his visit
