Good Hotel between Westminster, Tower, Shakespeare Globe?

I'll be in London from 9/27-29 and am looking for a strategically place hotel that is convenient to Westminster Abbey, the Tower, the Shakespeare Globe and Buckingham Palace. Looking for 3-4 stars, around $200-350 range. Any recommendations?

If not specific hotels, any recommendations on what areas are good for this? As a woman travelling alone, I want to be near restaurants and in a safe area to walk in, ideally with some stores, things to explore on foot. I only have a couple of days and want to get in what I can of Elizabethan & Victorian/Regency London (history fan and costume designer).

Would love any recommendations :)

Pounds, please. Whatever "dollars" you are talking about they are useless in London.
