Overnight sleeper from Euston to Inverness

Am looking to travel in February to Inverness with my daughter, and then to the SW corner of Loch Ness. The sleeper sounds fun, and as we enjoy camping, would I be right in thinking this would be a similar experience, but on wheels?

Does anyone have any hints and tips please?

Seat 61's guide is the best place to start:

Check the ScotRail website for Bargain Berths and be aware the sleeper reservations often aren't released on the same day as daytime trains for Advance booking.

The Sleeper trains don't usually have leaky roofs, or cows knocking out the guy ropes, and you don't have to p in a bucket, so not really that much like camping :-)

The berths are realy, really tight. Be prepared to become even better acquainted with your daughter than you already are! And decide in advance who gets the lower berth--you don't want to be fighting it out on the train! .
