Hello! My wife, teenage daughter and I will be visiting the UK for the first time this April and I would like to get itinerary advice. Here's an itinerary I came up with after culling together things I read on Tripadvisor, guide books, blogs, you name it:
Day 1 - Travel day
Day 2 to 4 - London
Day 5 - Windsor Castle
Day 6 - Day Trip to Oxford/Cotswolds
Day 7 - Day Trip to Bath
Day 8 - Day Trip to Salisbury/Stonehenge
Here's where it gets kind of dicey since I am entirely unsure whether to take the train or rent a vehicle since I have read from various sources that the best way to see the country is by driving. I should say that I am from a country that drives on the right side of the road so I am a bit concerned about having to turn everything I have gotten used to as far as driving all around.
The plan is to go to each of the locations, spend the night, then travel to the next destination the following day...anyway, that's the plan...
Day 9 - Cardiff
Day 10 - Stratford-upon-avon
Day 11 - Manchester
Day 12 - Edinburgh (perhaps stopping by Hadrian's Wall, if possible)
Day 13 - Glasgow
Day 14 - York
Day 15 - London
Day 16 - Travel Day
I don't know if this itinerary is too ambitious in the sense that maybe I am trying to pack too many things in or even if it is possible to actually pull off.
Anyway, I would really appreciate any and all feedback/suggestions/criticisms from anyone and everyone.
Thank you all in advance.
