Mobile # - Ireland to England

Hello All,

We went to Ireland last year and got a basic mobile phone with SIM card (and phone number) while there.

We will be going to England in less than a month and were going to bring the phone with us. BUT do we have to get a new SIM card (and phone number) when we arrive in London, or can we keep the same SIM card/phone number? Apologies for the ignorance - we just don't know if the numbers are usable in both Ireland and England.

If yes we do, I assume there will be a place in London Heathrow to purchase one?

Thank you again very much!

Which Ireland? Northern = No, Southern (Eire) = Yes .. ( realistically as call charges will be v high though it will work).

Heathrow is the worst place to buy SIMs, numerous reports of outrageously priced cards with high priced calls as well. Wait until you get to your first town or village and buy one there.

Thank you very much for your response.

It was Southern Ireland, so I guess that's a "yes" to buying a new one. Kind of assumed that but were hoping to hear otherwise from those who would know best. Oh well.

Thanks for the tip about the SIM cards. We're sure we were gauged with the price on the one we got at the airport in Dublin, so good to know that we run the same risk at Heathrow.

Cheers!
