Visit to Chatsworth and Lyme Park

Hi,

I'm planning a visit to Lyme Park and Chatsworth and I'd like help to figure out the best way to do it. I'll be staying in London and I wonder if it feasible visiting both places on the same day or I'll have to stay overnight? If so, where would be best to stay?

Thanks,

Hello

Chatsworth House and gardens deserve at least half a day to properly explore, Lyme Park is somewhere I have not visited so cannot comment.

However, these places are about 30 miles apart from each other by road but nearly 200 miles from London. Have you thought of not staying in London? there are hundreds - thousands - of better locations to stay for this trip.

There is plenty of good accomadation in the peak district with magnificent scenery to take in and you would have good access to chatsworth and Lyme park. You could spend a day visiting chatsworth house and gardens and half a day at Lyme hall and grounds try visiting the peak district web site for more info.

Would Buxton be the best option to stay overnight?

We are not sure of your travel plan and itinerary.

This is not a feasible day trip from London.

You could visit both in one full day, but Chatsworth would be the winner.

Lyme Park is next to Disley, close to Stockport, which is to the south east of Manchester.

Lots of hotels nearby:

Why would you want to stay between the 2 locations in Buxton?

Perhaps it would make more sense to stay close to one or the other, the night before, or, later the same day.

Chatsworth is next to Bakewell:

If it helps, there are buses from both Bakewell and Buxton that go past the Gates of Lyme Park.
