Going from Conwy, Wales to Kendal, England. Recommendations for overnight location. Would like to stay somewhere about midway between them

Thank you

Hi there

Are you aware that Conway to Kendal is only 140 miles or so, and much of that is on the motorways which means you should be able to complete the trip well inside three hours and probably closer to 2.5 hours However, if you still wish to stay overnight about half way, you will need to leave the M6 to find accommodation somewhere. I appreciate it's totally your call but I'd be inclined to save the overnight expenses and drive straight to Kendal.

Chester, Manchester, Liverpool are the obvious choices, although you could also consider Blackpool, Southport or Morecambe (all seaside resorts, but all very different). Or even Preston which is a largely industrial town, but not without interest due to its historic guilds.

Not half-way but have you considered a stopover at Chester. You would have time to have a look around this interesting city & then do a straight couple of hours motorway run north to Kendal next morning. Depends really if you are looking for somewhere just to sleep & eat en route or want to see something - is town or country your preference?

THat would be really doable. Where is best to stay? Kendal, Windermere, Bowness on Windermere.

Want to be close to town center, (walking distance) so that we can enjoy pub or restaurant and not have to worry about drinking and driving.

Suggestion appreciated.

Hi,

Unless you have a reason you do not need to stay overnight on this journey of a generous 4/5 hours to the Lakes from Conway.

You will drive along the A55, then the M56 to M6 northbound motorway

(mostly 70 mph).

OPTIONS

You could leave the M6 at junction 36 and back to slower traffic speed limits on the A roads or

continue on the M6 and we recommend, among the many gas/comfort stops en route, the best in the UK

Only our personal suggestion that you drive north past junction 36 and leave at Penrith junction 40 (A66) and then head directly to Keswick after considering then

before we just prefer to stay here as a favo(u)rite base destination.
