A place to visit on our way back from Bath(to London)?

Hi. I am building a circular self-driving tour for a family with kids(9 and 4). It starts in SE London( where we are staying)-Chessington(2 days)-New forest(2 days)-Stonehenge-Bath(2 days)-Avebury-?????-SE London. Any ideas for the gap I have? Thank you .

Windsor Castle maybe? Legoland? But you are nearly back with either of these and could do it from SE London as a day trip or with an extra night at Chessington.

Is this just a stop or the place to spend a night or two?

A full day and night. May be some nice village or castle with grounds in Cotswolds? Thanks.

Bourton on the Water in that case - plenty there for kids. Model village, Birdland, car museum - and the river itself

By the way, if anyone has any comment on the route, I will be very grateful.

Bourton is taking me way up North, but it looks like a very good idea still. Thank you very much.

Is Avebury all day thing or like a Stonehenge, couple of hours?

If you are calling at Avebury on the way back from Bath, then you might also want to call in at Lacock - see http://www.cotswolds.info/places/lacock.shtml .

Avebury will probably only take up about 2 hours

Only you can decide if it is a must.

One person's "must sees" may be another person's "why bother."
