Hello Fellow Travelers!
My UK "Bucket List" Itinerary requires a car rental for both access and scheduling:
Day One: Train in from Paris, lodging near Trafalgar Square, Big Ben and Westminster.
Day Two: Tube to Tower of London, lodging same
Day Three: Train to Salisbury, RENT AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION CAR, see Old Sarum, Lodging near Salisbury
Day Four: Drive to Stonehendge, Woodhenge, Avebury, same lodging near Salisbury.
Day Five: Drive to Glastonbury, Tor, Challis Well, lodging near Glastonbury
Day Six: Drive to Winchester, See Cathedral, drive to Arundel Castle, tour, lodging near Arundel.
Day Seven: Drive along coast to Beachy Head, see Longman, arrive and stay at Sissinghurst.
Day Eight: Tour Sissinghurst, drive to and visit Heaver Castle, Lodging in Tonbridge. RETURN CAR.
Day Nine: Train from Tonbridge, thru London, onto Edinburgh, Lodging in Edinburgh.
Day Ten: Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Lodging In Edinburgh.
Day Eleven, Flight back to US.
Am I crazy to think I can drive it? I believe if stay out of London, stay alert, cautious and courteous I can manage, but when I discuss this with fellow travelers, they think I'm nuts. Please tell me my British cousins and American fellow travelers...Am I nuts?
Any comments and suggestions regarding my itinerary are also most welcome.
