Hello all,
We'll try our luck with parking close to the bridge so that we can walk across it. We'll also go to the clifton Observatory for views of the bridge (By the way, does the observatory charge for parking?).
But where can I park the car, get out, and get great views of the bridge from along the river below?

You will most likely find somewhere to park by Christchurch Clifton and then walk across the green to the bridge and Observatory. From below... at Cumberland basin is a great spot for the classic photo, you might be lucky and find a parking space under the slip-road down there.
There is a good view from the terrace of the Avon Gorge Hotel. You can't drive up to the Observatory, you can usually find a spot around the green or in one of the side roads in Clifton. Alternatively, there's a layby on the faar side of the bridge near the Visitor Centre. The toll to drive over the bridge is 50p.
