Not sure about hotel location now - please help

We're booked for the Ibis Bristol Temple Meads but I have read a few things about the location that concerned me.

We'd like to be in a pleasant area and more importantly, SAFE.

We can still cancel at no cost. Are there any other areas you'd recommend that are central (seems Ibis not so central anyway).

Thanks.

In the meantime Ibis sold out and we decided to treat ourselves and go to The Bristol Hotel.

I really enjoyed my stay. We're now planning to move in June/July. People were so nice, hospitable, professional.

Clifton is by far the nicest part of Bristol and really safe, attractive and has fantastic bars and resturants.

The Clifton Hotel Group has hotels and bars/resturants in the area - I'd always reccomend one of these to visiting friends/family
