how come you chose the Peninsula? it;s just that it seems to be nowhere in particular... not at the cliffs, not at the beaches, not in town ...?

(ah, maybe not true... pictures suggest it's near the sea after all...

for me, the south coast is something I could spend days on end and is where I would go if I had just one day...

Renoir loved painting in Moulin Huet Bay

having said that, I think as an artist you would definitely appreciate the Victor Hugo house, as his interior decoration (his own design) is one of a kind.

Hallo MervbArt

Hope you really enjoy your brief trip to our little island.

As an artist and staying at Peninsula and, the winds are in the right direction you could see some spectacular seas with a walk towards the North of the island. There also pretty bays in that direction. However if you love a wonderful sunset, and there is a fine clear forcaste, you will see one on the West coast. If you are looking for equally majestic views, then a trip out to Jerbourg Point will be the place to go. If you are wanting some busy harbour views, then head out to St Peter Port, and you will also see an historic castle, also great views of Sark, Herm, if clear, Alderney and maybe France. If you are interested in architecture, there are a wealth of old passage ways leading up to and from St Peter Port.

There are a huge wealth of pretty tranquil lanes within the island supastructure, in May the wild flowers will be in full bloom and scent.

There is really not time for you to visit our historic gardens and places of interest, but I hope this has helped, please let me know via PM if you need further information.

Best wishes

that's some itinerary ...I have to admit, I have been wondering why an Aussie would be stopping over on Guernsey ... it's hardly a world-size hub ^_^

I can't stress the Victor Hugo house too much, it's totally unique to Guernsey ... as is the Little Chapel.

http://thelittlechapel.org/

the war museum is certainly interesting as well

(I can;t find a link right now??? it's small, cute and quaint and will show you what life on Guernsey was like during WWII, the Channel Islands being the only British ground that was cruelly taken over by the Germans...)

other things that might interest you:

(never seen it, but it's art indeed!)

these are superb!

and of course, a day visit to Herm can not be beaten:
