Car parks

Just arrived back from a really enjoyable trip to Jersey but have a minor moan about car parks.

Thanks to Rozel and others we knew about the paycard system but felt that in some places there should be more signs saying how many units were needed. For example we parked in a paycard zone in Gorey but there was nothing to say how many units were needed. We asked a local as to how much it was and he said don't bother they never check but we weren't prepared to run the risk so paid one unit per hour as we had in St Helier. We went into a shop where somebody was asking whether they sold the paycards and she said they only sold them singly as you only needed 1 for 3 hours.

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not complainng about the cost - it's very reasonable - but it could just be a bit clearer.

just got back from Jersey and now understand the parking system(though we did not go into St Helier)

We stayed at the Dolphin and they provided us with a disc which we used on the pier at gorey and elsewhere when the sign said so. Other carparks needed the scratch card which at St Aubin and St Brelade was one card for two hours which I THINK IS A BARGAIN at 56p per card. We bought the cards at the newsagents in Gorey. Some car parks you could have used either. Many car parks were free e.g St ouen, corbieres. No problems at all in parking but suspect high season may be different.

The Dolphin was a good hotel for a REASONABLE £63 per room and the restaurant had a good set menu including fresh fish

Of real note was our table d'hote lunch menu at th Old court House St Aubin Harbour for £10. Superb and the evening set menu looked really good.

About the never checking in car parks a car next to us at St aubin had a fixed penalty charge altough it had french plates so unsure how they would collect the fine!
