If you are staying at the Pomme D'Or you won't need a car except perhaps for one day.

If arriving at the airport, get the bus to Liberation Station which is the bus terminus and the Pomme D'Or is just yards away.

You can get a bus to most parts of the Island eg St. Aubin, St. Brelade, Gorey, Durrell etc from the main bus station. It will cost £1.50p each per single journey. Buses are roughly every 30 minutes to the main destinations but you will need to check times carefully as some of the more outlying areas such as St. Catherine's are far less frequent.

It is worth hiring a car for one full day so that you can do a full day tour of the Island and go to all the out of the way places and stay as long or as little as you like. There is a car hire station just off the Weighbridge where the Pomme D'Or is located so that should make it very easy.

When hiring a car, get the excess as low as possible, zero if you can, as little bumps and scratches in the narrow lanes can be a pain.

Hope you have a great time and enjoy the Pomme D'Or, it is a nice hotel and very well located to get to the Waterfront, St. Helier town centre and even the ferry port if you fancy a day trip to St. Malo (make sure you bring your passports!)

Thanks for your help, we were thinking of hiring a car for 1 day only. Is there a carpark at the hotel, if not is there parking nearby? With regard to the buses, is there a day pass we could buy for cheaper travel?

Thanks

You can buy 1 day, 3 day, 5 day and week-end passes. The one day is £6 and a week-end pass is £10 a person. They also sell family travel passes.

There is no hotel parking at the Pomme D'Or but there is a car park near by where you have to display a parking ticket between 8am and 5pm Monday to Saturday. Books of tickets are available at many shops. The tickets can also be used on the explorer routes which visit the man attractions, full information is available on the Jersey Connex website.

If you only hire a car for one day parking should not be an issue and many of the car parks at destinations are free with the exception of St. Helier, St. Aubin and St. Brelade.

Sounds ok, can a car be left in the carpark over night. Thanks for your help.

No problem, the main car park near the Pomme D'Or is a large and an open one and cars can be left free of charge between 5pm and 8am. Clearly there is always a risk if cars are left out in the open but that is a risk you take anywhere. There is limited parking in the Weighbridge area itself but you may be able to get a space. The large open car park opposite Cineworld and the Waterfront area is probably your best bet.

If you hire a car for the day that should solve your problem as you can pick it up from the car hire office near your hotel and arrange to drop it off when you have finished.

I know that Europcar Jersey arrange zero excess on the insurance and they will probably drop the car off at your hotel. Alternatively, the Pomme D'Or could arrange a day's car hire for you. I believe the car hire office in the Weighbridge is Hertz and Zebra Car Hire is situated very close by.
