Pubs / Bars for the more 'mature'

Hi

Can anybody recommend bars for the more mature clientele please on a Friday night in Chester?

Somewhere reasonably lively, but not full of kids.

Thanks

They do mostly seem to be full of kids over the weekend (not sure how they can afford it?!) so haven't tried any at the weekend. Restaurants are fine. If slightly out of town there are Brunning and Price pubs which are ideal.

I suggest

The Pied Bull Northgate Street

The Coach House 39 Northgate Street

Duttons 10-12 Godstall Lane.

Commercial Hotel Northgate Street

Bear and Billet 94 Lower Bridge Street

All are quiet close to each other.

The Pied Bull is our local - very traditional pub, decent beer and pleasant staff. The Albion just off the wall near Habitat is another one worth a look - unique WW1 and WW2 decor (!) cosy and again excellent beer...or Harkers by the Canal for a very lively crowd of 40-50somethings (yes, really) and you guessed it...excellent beers.
