The Walls, the Cathedral and the Rows

Hi, my partner and I will be driving through Chester on a Sunday afternoon on the way to Liverpool, and would like to have a look around Chester. What would be the best way of getting to the Walls, the Cathedral and the Rows if we use the Boughton Heath Park and Ride? Thanks.

Hi Suzanne,

You are wise taking the park and ride, the bus will drop you off a couple of minutes walk from all three attractions. You can gain access to The Walls via the stairs on Eastgate Street, just around the corner from the bus stop.

Good luck!

If you get on the walls you will soon see the cathedral. Also, you will see Foregate Street one of thre main streets with Rows, although the oldest Rows and best buildings are probbably to be found in Watergate Street.

A walk round the entire circuit of the walls won't take more than an hour (depending if you stop along the way) and it's a great way to see many of Chester's main sights. As other posters said, the cathedral and Rows are next to the Walls, and you will also see the River Dee, canal, racecourse, castle, Roman Gardens, almshouses etc etc!

It's a shame that you're not coming on Sunday, as the historic Midsummer Watch Parade is taking place.

Thanks so much for all your useful information. Jester, the Parade sounds great but we're not coming to Chester until October - I'm doing a lot of advance planning to make our trip as smooth as possible, as we're coming from Australia (via France).

Thanks again,

Suzanne
