You have to go to Warrington and change from Central to Bank Quay station there

You can also go via Liverpool.

Also bear n mind Widnes Railway Station is some distance from the town centre on Birchfield Road

The J61 bus goes past and there will be others

The J61will take you to Rainhill, about ten minutes past Widnes Railway station, which gives you another option from where you can get a train to Chester via Earlestown.

May be best getting the bus from Widnes, the 110 stops near B&Q and walk to Bank Quay. Getting the train to Warrington Central means a walk across town to Bank Quay Station

Once upon a time Widnes had three railway stations. The one that Paul Simon allegedly wrote "Homeward Bound" at has long since gone but there is a plaque in the middle of a housing estate somewhere in the town announcing this piece of information.
