Romantic break

I'm looking for somewhere for my husband and I to stay for our second anniversary. Would like somewhere near the sea where we can go for nice walks (preferably not too hilly!) and with places to eat nearby. Coming down from Southampton for a weekend at the beginning of July, budget about £100 per night max, either self catering or hotel, prefer modern style decor if poss. Preferably not too long a drive from Southampton.

Newquay ?

Staying at Porth Beach area-Kallacliff is getting Great reviews at the moment.

Luzty Glaze Beach has a restraunt on the beach which is very good. So does Tolcarne Beach.

Walking wise-the costal food path-to Watergate Bay or into Newquay it self.

Just an idea ?

You could take a look at Charlestown near St Austell on the south coast. Its a charming little harbour with square rig tall ships based there. It has a few good pubs/restaurants and good walking along the cliff paths. Close to Fowey/Mevagissey which are pleasant places to wander around.

Try http://www.t-gallants.co.uk/index.htm guest house overlooking the harbour and within your budget.

Tintagel is very nice it's on the north coast, steeped in history, or Padstow a little down the coast with its fresh sea food, you can walk or hire bikes and travel to Wadebridge along the level Camel trail mmm I might go this weekend.

Just seen this post so sorry for the delay.

Polperro would be ideal for you too - a lovely working fishing village with narrow streets, some really great pubs and restaurants, great walks along the cliff pathways and loads of accommodation possibilities well within your budget.

Take a look at www.polperro.org for lots of info and ideas for accommodation - hotels, B & Bs and cottages.
