family holiday - 2015

Hi,

Planning a trip to Cornwall in July 2015 with wife and two kids (under 6). We like to chill out on holidays with an occasional bit of rambling. Anybody got any recommendations as to a good place to base ourselves for the two weeks?

Do you want village, town, or middle of nowhere? And are you driving?

Sorry additional details would've helped! I think maybe a small village near the coast

Will be driving off the ferry in fishguard. Could potentially spend a week in each of two locations...

What are you interested in doing apart from going to the beach?

Hi thanks for the response. We like a bit of relaxed sightseeing, bit of rambling and some nice food in the evening. Wouldn't be into continuous driving for the two weeks. A location with some kids activities would also be good

St Ives is one of the best central places but difficult for parking unless your hotel offers it.

But you could base yourselves anywhere and drive to a different place each day.

You could look at staying in Pods on a Cornish campsite. These are usually near the coast - offer wonderful views - omit the hassle of tents and kids love them.

My family always went to Bude and I loved it as a child.

Looe is lovely. quieter than the north coast generally and with lots to see and do. if you are looking for school summer holidays would suggest you book as early as possible because places will book out very quickly next year due to the "no holidays in term time" rules.

I would hardly call St Ives central.

What you could do, to get the best of both worlds would be to have a week in somewhere like Looe, and then a week further west.
