We are considering a multi generational family holiday Gran and Grandad(fortunately still active), 2 mums and dads and 3 children(2 toddlers) We' re looking at a cottage in Crantock at the beginning of June. Is it fairly quiet? and are there family friendly pubs and restaurants? Is the beach suitable for small children?Any help would be much appreciated

I would say Crantock would be a good place to stay for your family.

It is a quiet little village with a couple of nice pubs, The Albion and The Cornish Arms, opposite each other. The Bowgie Inn is at West Pentire less than a mile away as well. The beach is excellent for small children as its on the mouth of the River Gannel, which is wide and sandy enabling children to play safely there and not be in the sea all of the time which is obviously not as safe for toddlers.

June will be fairly quiet and often we have the best weather then as well.

Crantock in June is a good choice, the beach and river are beautiful and great at low tide when there are lots of little pools for young children to splash about in. The beach is large enough never to get busy and the children will love getting the little ferry over the river to see the live lobsters in the little ferry house/shop or crabbing from the little bridge or rafting in the river if the tide is out. There are also high sand dunes great for making slides. There are two pubs in the village and a great little restaurant the Cosy Nook, all charge about the same for evening meals. One great reason for staying in Crantock is that you will be able to walk downhill to the beach as the car park fills up quickly in good weather.
