Dog friendly pubs and restaurants in Port Isaac

Does anyone out there know which pubs in Port Isaac allow in dogs? We are taking our labrador on holiday with us in October and I hope to be able to take him out with us in the evenings.

Any information gratefully received.

Hi there

Speaking for Cornwall as a whole, generally speaking, some pubs will let well-behaved dogs into the bar area. As far as dining is concerned, pubs with a set-aside dining room are unlikely to allow dogs in there, but if you have the optionto eat in the bar (and many pubs are fine with that), then the dog can curl up under the table.

We travel with two cocker spaniels and rarely find a pub in Cornwall that specifically has a "no dogs" rule. Just ask before entering. You'll probably find that the more rural pubs are more likely to be dog-friendly than the towny pubs

We have just returned from a 2 week stay in Port Isaac with our labrador. In Port Isaac there is only one pub that will allow dogs in which is the Crows Nest at the top over looking the sea. It looks a bit dodgy from the outside but the food is actually really good.

There is a small patio area outside the Golden Lion and a larger covered area outside the Slipway on the harbour where you can sit - but you are not allowed in either pub.

A really good doggie friendly pub is The Rock Inn in Rock which allows dogs in and the beach is also dog friendly and about 2 miles long.

Hope this helps, and enjoy your stay.

The Port Gaverne hotel is very dog friendly in it's public bar - in fact they do not allow children but dogs are more than welcome - even get a chewy if they're good and get to know the bar staff!

(Just down the hill from Port Isaac)

Good pub lunches too!
