Pennies are short this year but I would love to be holidaying in St Ives in June. Other than camping, what do you reckon is the cheapest way to get a hol in St Ives.
Hi there
I'd say that when you look at the astronomical cost of say a decent caravan or hotel, plus even a cheap B & B will be maybe £35 per night per person in June, then according to how many will be in your party, maybe a holiday cottage, with the cost split several ways, would be the best alternative?
Maybe there are youth hostels in the area? - I'm sure one of the Cornish locals can advise accordingly.
At the end of it, what would you consider to be "cheap"?
Keep an eye out in the newspapers for their cheap holiday deals, you kow the ones, where you collect tokens and get a holiday for £9.50 or whatever a person.
GB. There will only be 2 of us and I don't think her indoors would entertain a hostel :)
The token thing is a good idea Annabelle but they only do holiday parks and there are none IN St Ives :(
Edited: 14 years agoNot IN St Ives. but in the general area.
If you want to be in St Ives itself, then I am afraid you will pay the price, it's not cheap.
Hi Pete, If you dont want anything too expensive, give some of these a try.
Smaller ones are probably cheaper.

Hi again
St Ives can be an expensive place to stay so why not look at somewhere close to the town such as Hayle where I'm sure there are holiday camps that participate in the cheap newspaper holiday thing?
Hello Pete
Ayr Holiday Park is in St Ives http://www.ayrholidaypark.co.uk/holiday-park.php
What's your budget Pete and for how long do you want to go? PM me if you would rather not post that on the forum and I will see what I can find for you. I know quite a few places for just two people at really good prices. Also, would you consider near to St Ives as opposed to actually in St Ives, for example, Lelant, Hayle or somewhere pretty close like that?

Not sure what your budget is going to be but have a look at these ideas:-

No parking with the last one though but you could get a parking permit?

The one above is quite remote but in a great place with fantastic views. The railway line goes across the front but it shouldn't be a problem as the first train is 6.50 am and the last train is 9.50 pm (ish). I would stay there, great price too.

The one above is the cheapest one from Aspects and is really pretty basic but gets you where you want to be, no parking though.

As you will have gathered, these are all properties currently with Aspects as this is the brochure I have been looking at the most lately so I had an idea which ones were the best value properties. As you will be aware, there are lots of other private holiday home owners and other holiday companies to look at if none of the above are suitable. If you are already aware of these properties and nothing is suitable then post a message and let us know why they aren't suitable and we will all have a go at trying to find you something.
I am sure you can get there and get something decent in June on a budget.

One of the smaller self catering places might be cheapest for two people.
There is a comprehensive listing of both individual properties and the main local agencies on the Open Directory:
Many places are currently running special offers. Not much use to you now but might be worth checking nearer the time if you want to take a chance and book late:

If you want to save a bit of money it might be worth contacting owners and making a reasonable offer below their standard price. Some will not be interested but you never know. You could sweeten the offer by offering to pay in advance.
